A Mother’s Heart, A Daughter’s Dream

Updated: Oct 5

Where it all began. The roots of our family tree. My Mother & Father.
Where it all began. The roots of our family tree. My Mother & Father.

Ever since I was a little girl, I dreamed of having a big family.

Babies, cousins, friends, our home was always full of laughter, noise, and love.

My mother, a single mom to three daughters (I was the youngest), made every holiday and every milestone feel magical, no matter the challenges she faced.

She was nurturing, intuitive, intelligent, and devoted to everyone.

From her to me, and now to the next generation of mothers and babies — love passed forward.

When she passed away from heart failure, I couldn’t help but see the symbolism.

Her heart may have failed physically, but in truth, her heart was so big and so strong that it had touched more people than I ever realized.

At her funeral, family flew in from Puerto Rico, old friends reached out, and person after person told me: “She was like a mother to me.”

In that moment, I understood: her mission on earth was to give pieces of her heart to those who needed it. And when her mission was complete, she left us — leaving her love behind.

The love that shaped FLOESSA: my mother’s heart, my journey as a mom, and my children — the foundation behind it all.

A few weeks before she passed, she told me she felt her time was near.

Of course, I was in denial. But we shared long conversations about life, faith, and family.

One moment stays with me forever.

She began to remind me, as she always did, about God and morals.

I finished her sentence before she could — and she smiled, relieved.

“I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become, Andrea,” she said.

I told her, “Well, you did raise me after all.” 🤍

Then she gave me her final lesson: “People need to learn to be okay with death.

It’s part of life. I lived a full life. Now it’s your turn.”

It was hard to hear, harder to accept, but she was right.

Carrying Her Love Forward

I’ve always loved babies — their innocence, their sweetness, the way they remind us what really matters. Though I only had two children of my own (and I’m endlessly grateful for them), I realized something unexpected: my dream of nurturing many babies was coming true in a different way.

Grandma’s love is forever. She helped me raise Ethan in his earliest years, giving him the foundation of her nurturing heart while I worked. She truly put the Grand in grandmother.

FLOESSA was born from my own motherhood, but also from my mother’s spirit.

It’s not just a breast pump. It’s a bridge across generations. It supports moms in their most vulnerable moments and gives babies the nutrients they need to survive and thrive.

I may not be in the room with every mom who uses FLOESSA.

But through FLOESSA, I get to be part of countless feeding journeys — each one sacred, each one infused with love.
